MAP INFO TRAINING MODULE


The aim of this training is to train professionals in Remote Sensing theory and the practical use of image processing software (MAP INFO ) for plantation officers

To provide this training in context and to ensure that all participants had the
minimum remote sensing knowledge required for plantation data capturing and manipulation.

Module I: FUNDAMENTALS OF REMOTE SENSING

Learning outcomes:
Understanding of Remote Sensing basic concepts
Familiarity with the different Remote Sensing products available
Visual interpretation of images

Fundamentals of Remote Sensing
o Electromagnetic energy (spectrum)
o Interactions with the atmosphere

o Basics of visual image interpretation
Remote Sensing technology. Overview of different satellites and

Vegetation applications of Remote Sensing
o General principles for vegetation recognition
o Remote Sensing for ecology, conservation and forestry




Module II: MAP INFO  PRACTICAL SESION

Prerequisites: Basic GIS knowledge required
Learning outcomes:
Understanding of Remote Sensing basic concepts
Familiarity with the different Remote Sensing products available and
potential use for environmental purposes
Visual interpretation of images
